MixTape
The director used a close up here of the boy thinking about the reaction of the girl his making the mix tape for. From this close up we can see the fark and mystery backgroud, there is a red curtain and its closed. The red curtain conates thats his could be in love and over thinking about the girl, however this could also mean that his up to something dangerous if you have never seen the film.
Further more this closeup shows the boy's facial expressions. Showing an actor's facial expression is very important in a peice of media. From this closeup the audience can identify that the boy is looking a bit worried, this relates to the fact that his making a mixtape for a girl that he might have feelings for and he could be worried that the girl might not like it.
Throughout the short film there is quite a lot of cross cutting between the boy and the girl’s room. This suggests that even though they not together in the same room, they feeling the same way because in the cross cuts scenes both the girl and the boy are in a happy and joyful mood.
The director used high angle shots to show the surround of the two children. From these shot we see that they both could be in they parent's room trying to fit in and relate to the song on the mixtape.
From these shows we can see that in the girl's room its has high key light. This portray the girl as the one in control and not afriad of anything however, on the other hand in the boy's room it is dark which shows that he was scared about talking to the girl and what the outcome might be, it also shows that he couldn't do a lot to help him self build confidence.
During the scene the boy leaves his house to go deliver the mixtape to the girl at her house. Through-out this scene the director made it in slow motion, this gave the audience the illusion that he is setting off on a big journey but in realisty he is only going to doors away. This is effective because it builds up to a climax of the short film which is when he reach the door bell of the girl's house and finilly has to give her the mixtape.
