Horror Poster
The collector movie poster portray the films genre effective as it meets all the codes and conventions of a horror film poster. At the top of the poster there is a four words slogan which reads 'HE ALWAYS TAKES ONE' this engage the audience well making them feel trapped already and because it says 'HE ALWAYS TAKES ONE' makes the audience believe that the 'ONE' could be them. This is effective because it gets the audience thinking more about the film and who the 'ONE' could be. The main image contains a character with a mask covering up his face but also his whole head, this shows that this character don't want people to recongnise his facial and likes to keep his victims thinking about who the annonimous 'killer' might be. Further more it doesn't only makes the actors from the movie think about that but it also makes the audience think about that and gets them thinking that maybe by watching the movie that will help answer the question of who this character is.
In this movie poster there is a great effect and clear use of dramatic irony. This is when the audience knows something that the character mihgt not. In this poster we can see that from the main image of the character, possibly the main character looking directly at a different direction while the audience can notice a strange character in the background of her. This makes the audience question whether she will notice that there is a creepy character/killer behind her. The poster contains the quote 'INSPIRED BY TRUE EVENTS' this immediately alerts the viewer, having them into thinking that the film is real life stories and that the audience could be the next victim to the stranger. This is really interesting because a lot of horror films that uses that qoute are not actually true and its interesting that a film company uses fake facts to interact with they audiences and make them believe more into the movie no matter how it looks. The fonts of this poster has a blurred effects added to it, this suggest that it could be related to paranormal activity which could include ghost or strange character as the villain of the movie.
