Opening Scene

ECU

‘joey is sitting at his desk writing a letter to his deceased girlfriend’

joey

“Dear Georgia

I miss you.

Today is the first day that I left the house since you left me two weeks ago to this day. Since that day I have avoided any social contact with almost anyone outside of our apartment; I haven’t the energy. Nothing and no one seem worth the time now without you by my side.”

Ext. joey – Morning

‘joey is walking down the street going to the beach and the pier’

joey

“My family sent a card for your birthday, 20th January, not knowing that you’ve gone from my side; I left it on the kitchen table, unopened. I can’t bring myself to tell them the truth; I can’t face the unsympathetic sympathy that they will try to give.”

‘Joey is sitting at his favorite place to eat in brighton’

joey

“I’ve lived, if the past couple of weeks of my life is worthy of the term ‘living’, with your departure through total isolation, decadence and apathy but today, today is different.

Yes Georgia, I needed to try what i could to free myself from the sorrow ive been feeling all these weeks, to try and think of the happy times we had together, i visited some of our favourite places, the ones we had such good times at.”

‘Joey is watching people having fun on the pier rides’

joey

“The pier, where we would gaze off to the abyss of the never ending ocean,[Pause] the sea front, letting the tide flow between our toes.”

‘Joey walks down the street looking sad and emotionless’

joey

“And last of all the charred remains of the old pier, much like me, simply a husk of what it once was. These places mean so much to me, but they meant more to US. But without visiting the places that we once did, I can never truly move on Georgia.”

joey

“Why would you leave me?
Where are you now?
Do you miss me?

I can only hope that going to these places will answer these questions that have been burning in my head since you left me. Georgia I miss you, come back to me please, this letter I cannot send you…”

joey

“…because tomorrow is your funeral and what truly happened will become a reality that I cannot ignore. Don’t let that happen, come back to me, haunt me, just be with me again somehow.

Georgia this will be the last letter…”
